Let me start by saying a huge “Thank you!” to Meserete Kristos College’s friends and supporters who have provided the College with enormous help for more than twenty years. The Meserete Kristos Church’s tremendous growth posed a serious need for trained leaders, and the church opened the College to prepare servant graduates passionately committed to the transformation of society.
MK Church members now number about 683,857 persons with 3101 ministers. Many of them seek to receive training in biblical and theological studies. We have had students from various denominations in Ethiopia. Students at MK College are also coming from Kenya, Eritrea, Somaliland and Djibouti and we expect a few students from Tanzania and Uganda next year, an open door ministry to serve at least Mennonite Churches in Eastern Africa. The College is to offer other disciplines to the large society as well.
Most of the students are young for about 70 percent of the population in the country is young people. Some of them joined the College after graduating from different universities in the country since they have an abiding passion for working in God’s kingdom.
Hence, we have a huge responsibility to meet the needs of churches and the larger society. The College is here to make hope to our students through providing academic training, nurturing Christian character and developing skills for more effective ministry. I believe great blessings are in store for MK College as we work hard to achieve the mission, and thank you for your partnership in His Kingdom.
