Preparing Servant Graduates Passionately Committed to the Transformation of Society

Who We Are

The Meserete Kristos College, Debre Zeit, Ethiopia, is a tertiary level institution of higher learning founded and owned by the Meserete Kristos Church. The College has a main residential campus at Debre Zeit, and a non-residential campus at Nazareth.  It will also have a non-residential campus, now under construction, for day and evening classes at the MKC Head Office in Olympia, Addis Ababa. It also has a distance education program enrolling 170 correspondence students from all over Ethiopia.  It has “Candidate Status” with the Association for Christian Theological Education in Africa (ACTEA) and is pursuing full accreditation.

Mission The College exists to prepare servant graduates passionately committed to the transformation of society.
Vision While the College is a small baccalaureate degree level institution, it envisions becoming a full “Christian University” offering a broad range of undergraduate and graduate programs designed to meet the training needs of the growing Christian communities in the Ethiopian cultural, socio-economic and spiritual context.

What We Do

Purpose The College seeks to provide educational programs in a distinctively Anabaptist Christian perspective that will inform, equip, and challenge men and women to apply practical Christian discipleship in their homes, communities, the market places, business institutions, and governing organizations in which they live and work.
Strategy The College seeks to provide a broad range biblical, theological, and biblicaly-based liberal arts programs in higher education that will develop and equip men and women to serve effectively in a variety of supportive and leadership roles in the Ethiopian and surrounding churches and societies.
Future Development While a biblical and theological wing (seminary) is in operation, the College envisions opening its first liberal arts programs in 2018. By the year 2018 it will be offering degree programs in three major disciplines. Campus development continues. A dormitory for 258 women is under construction which, when completed in 2017, will enable the College to accommodate 640 students in its residential facilities at Debre Zeit. It will also have non-residential programs at branch campuses in Addis Ababa and Nazareth Campuses.
